It is only logical that 'management' want to save cost, time and resources. They wish for competent staff, and they only want quality courses.
What courses is more relevant than those which are closely linked to basic competency, career advancement and professionalism?
Perkara begini mesti ditamatkan!

We need courses with relevant modules and topics. They should meet industrial needs and some basic skills. Our security practitioners should be at par with other developed countries. They should not provide excellence lips service only. We want action.
They should be exposed to security general topics [core subjects] and in near future, into elective subjects. [for specific industry and expertise]. Some of the industry/sector: hospitality, education, manufacturing, financial institutions, tourism, logistic, transportation, aviation, maritime, plantation estates, housing estates, retail, shopping complex/malls, etc. Each one of them faces different kind of security threats.
Courses should clearly differentiate between 'officers and rank & files'. The planners and the doers.
For this SAFETYNET have started courses which are more academic inclined namely Security Supervisor Course and Auxiliary Police Course scheduled on 28 and 29 September 2015. We are getting rid of in door 'games' which has no link to objective of the course. A simple exam is in place and simple course report will be sent to the company.
It is planning to introduce to the industry 'compulsory courses' before a person can be promoted to Security Supervisor and Officer/Exec.
Safetynet 'wishes' all Security Managers should attend Professional Certificate in Security Operation Management as a 'competency certificate' of a security manager.
Safetynet is working with UM to introduce some professional certificates in relations to security profession. If the venture materialized, professional certificates in some security topics will be made available throughout the country by early 2016.
